We're not a cult, we're an organization that promotes love and -
Yeah this is it.
Man this book was heavy but also surprisingly funny in the parts that didn't document outright abuse because the people at the heart of this 'organization' are all profoundly vainglorious nutjobs. It really speaks to things I have long believed about the essentially corrosive nature of power and to the extent that you have masters, you should kill them. And I mean that metaphorically like if the church has that much power over you, you should seek to distance yourself from it. And if they, oh I dunno, follow you to a motel where you are deliberately hiding from them, maybe also literally.
