I really enjoyed this movie despite not being trans (I don't know, I've never seen Buffy, so maybe?). As an elder millennial the vibes of this movie were spot on down to the Fruitopia, and the pacing drove the narrative forward effectively without doing too much jumping around in time (yet while also emphasizing the thematic temporal fuckery and the relentless march of time while you fail to get your shit together...).
This film compares favorably to other psychological thrillers like Donnie Darko (as far as I recall... it's been a while), but it's less complicated, has a more straightforward 'meta-plot' and doesn't jump around as much. Oh and it has clear source of the psychological horror, namelyspoiler alert
Trans Dysphoria
Oh yeah and Maddy was right: Isabel/Owen is a total drip.
